Gateway Residential & Community Support Services

Good Food Box Program

Gateway's Good Food Box program is a not-for-profit program where anyone in the community can buy fruit and vegetables at a low cost. This promotes healthy eating in the Niagara Region.

What is The Good Food Box?

The Good Food Box is a volunteer not for profit, produce buying cooperative to help everyone to include fresh fruits and vegetable in their meals.

The low cost of the Good Food Box is made possible because of group buying.

How does it work?

Good Food Box participants can pool money together which allows them to purchase items at wholesale and the savings goes right back in their own pocket.

Volunteers work together packing boxes and running the program – this is also a major source in reducing the cost of the box.

The selection of produce in the box changes according to season and produce is purchased locally whenever possible.

What Our Clients Say
  • "I was all alone with mental illness for years. No doctor would help. I was very insecure when I first called Gateway. I needed a place to live and the group home let me in. I learned how to budget, how to be independent, and even was given the courage to go back to school. The counselling I have had is very good, I now know that I am not alone. The women's group is very therapeutic... I feel safer."
